My toilet in the main bathroom started making a constant hissing sound a few days ago, and the fill valve just never seems to stop running — even a good 10 or 15 minutes after I flush. The tank appears to fill to the normal level, but the water just keeps trickling in like it doesn't know when to quit. I can hear it from the hallway, which is getting pretty annoying.

I'm not sure if this is a fill valve problem specifically, or if something else in the tank is causing it. The toilet is probably eight or nine years old — nothing fancy, just a standard two-piece we had installed when we redid the bathroom. Looked everywhere online and feel a little silly asking this, but I recently installed a bidet seat in our master bath and it's just... not spraying. We got it set up a few weeks ago and it was working fine, and now when I press the wash button nothing happens at all — no water, no noise, nothing. The toilet itself flushes and refills just fine, so I'm guessing it's something specific to the bidet?

I'm a pretty new homeowner and this is the fanciest thing we've added to the bathroom so far, so I really don't want to break it or make things worse by poking around in the wrong places. Nobody ever told me how many weird sounds a toilet could make — I just assumed they flushed and that was it. But ours has started making this soft, almost constant hissing noise after every flush, and it seems to go on for a while before it finally stops. My apartment's toilet has to be at least 15 or 20 years old at this point, and it's starting to show its age in a big way — the handle keeps sticking, the flapper goes constantly, and I've noticed some discoloration at the base that worries me. Looked everywhere online but can't figure out why my main bathroom has started smelling like rotten eggs or sewer gas — it's been happening on and off for about a week now. The toilet is a Kohler two-piece and seems to flush fine, no leaks that I can see around the base. The smell is worst in the morning when we first use the bathroom, but it sometimes lingers all day.

Nobody wants to walk into their bathroom and get hit with that rotten-egg, sewer-gas smell coming from the toilet — and yet here I am. It started a few days ago and it's definitely strongest right around the toilet itself, not the drain or anywhere else. I opened a window and lit a candle, but the smell keeps coming back.

My apartment has a second bathroom that basically never gets used, and lately there's been a really strong sewer smell coming from it. I looked up a video on how to fix a dry trap and followed the steps — poured water down the toilet, added a little mineral oil on top to slow evaporation, the whole thing. But the smell is still there, maybe even stronger now, and I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if a dry trap isn't even the issue.
